"Very disappointing.Been plenty of times and always commented to staff how nice it was (especially the pies but I’m afraid it’s going down hill. Booked in for Sunday lunch 11/02/2024 for 3pm.6 tables reserved so was told to sit behind pillar.3of us.I asked if we could move to a table for 4 has partner as problem with his legs .No they are reserved.Right , ordered our food .Salmon with dill sauce.Dearest on menu.small portion Roast dinner and steak and ale pie.Food was served 20 minutes later. The Salmon was unacceptable .It was 2 inches wide by 6 inches long. My daughter (25yrs is not a big eater but come if it the fork with handle was bigger than it. Also about a teaspoon of dill sauce. My roast potato was burnt and the stuffing was has hard as nails. There was about a teaspoon of gravy over my dinner. My partners roast potatoes were burnt and the pie just wasn’t hot enough. We asked for more gravy ,Dill sauce and said about the salmon .40 minutes had passed and the other tables were free so we could have moved. What was also annoying was that a lady across ordered Salmon 30 minutes after us and wow it was 4 times bigger. So why serve a portion like that to my daughter it was just a plate of veg.To be honest we couldn’t wait to leave ,something wasn’t right. No smiles from the staff and the tables started filling up with regulars.Upon paying I had to mention (3 more times the Salmon and the girl was rather abrupt.Far enough she did take the salmon off the bill but we have decided to spend our money somewhere else as most of all we didn’t feel welcome"

"Avoid this place!! Booked table for my daughters 12th birthday for 6 of us. Got there and was like a store room and freezing cold they had to clear table to make room coz covered in delivery bags we had to ask for heating as sat in our coats they got a portable gas heater that wouldn't worm was honestly a joke the menus had multiple prices and when it came to ordering drink they had nothing even beer pumps didn't work then told it was cash only we ended up walking out ut had no atmosphere workers dropping and banging around in the restaurant sorting stuff as it literally looked like a store room with a few tables. We booked this over a week ago and they wasn't even prepared my poor little girl had her birthday ruined and no apology or anything it was dirty and disgusting and how it's being allowed to operate as a restaurant is beyond me I will be reporting this to health and safety and local council. To not have any heating in this weather then bring in gas heaters which they admitted don't work very well and put it next to our table smelling of gas and to be told if it goes out they reheat it and to have to sit In our coats was awful it was awkward too and then to be told all we can have if coke and a fee select drinks as there pumps for beer etc don't work anymore and the coke was stored jn the corner of restaurant in bottles too it was utter disgusting so please don't waste ur time or money on this place. I just hope something is done when I report it.. thanks for ruining my little girls birthday mandarin palace!!!"

"Where to begin, we went out as a family to honour my mums memory who we were burying the next day this pub was where mum often went for lunch with her friends and really enjoyed it. Last night though everything was totally shambolic, we had booked for a party of 11, when we arrived all went well, waitress came and took our drinks order, then came back to take our food order. We ordered starters to share, then various different meals, the waitress went round each of us and took our orders. She then came back to say there was no sausage left for one of our orders so we changed that to another meal. That was the last we saw of her as she left the pub shortly afterwards. After waiting an hour we went to enquire where our food was, to be told it was on the way, then the lady who we presumed to be the landlady came and said ‘I’m sorry but we didn’t see the order for the starters, do you want them with your mains? We said we would just go with the manis. When the mains arrived one order was totally wrong another was a meal we hadn’t ordered, she the said ‘we’ve run out of steak pies do you want chicken and leek, we agreed to this. After another wait with half of us eating and the other half waiting for the pies, the pies arrived, they were awful completely inedible, my sisters meal was still frozen in the middle and my daughters looked disgusting. Almost like they had put left over bits of meat in a tin and covered it with something resembling pastry but looked like raw dough. We sent these back to the kitchen. Then the chef came out and said quite beligerently ‘I can only cook what was on the order’ then walked away before we could reply. By this time I was in tears because of the reason we where there. Surely the cook is responsible for the quality of the food delivered to the table. The landlady to be fair couldn’t apologise enough but kept blaming the young waitress who had taken the order. Surely blame is laid at the managements door and the chef. The landlady didn’t charge us for the pies and everything else at half price. Needless to say we won’t be returning any time soon"
