"We stayed at the Bib Arezzo so spent quite a bit of time in the Piazza San Gusto. We found the Piazza to be a friendly place, busy with locals who were friendly and accepting to us strangers. On our last night in the wonderful little town of Arezzo we chose to eat at the Cinema am 10. What a wise choice we made! Our waiter took time and effort to go through the extensive menu dish by dish to give us the best chance of making an informed choice. We shared a plate of smoked trout carpaccio. This went down a treat as did our mixed salami and cheese plate. This included a hand carved aged prosciutto, mortadella and a really dark strong salami. The cheeses were pecorino and provolone. We asked our waiter to choose a nice local red. We took delivery of a Rosso de Montepulciano that was incredibly good. My wife stated that it was her favourite of the two week trip. I wouldn't argue to be fair, it was excellent and we'll worth the 18 Euro price tag. We then shared a chocolate affair that is apparently made with water. The chocolate intensity was strong but the feeling was much lighter than some chocolate desserts. We cleared the plate. The sweet was accompanied by a glass of Merlino. I have to admit that I had not heard of it previously. It is very much in the style of a port but just a shade sweeter. The evening was made all the more enjoyable by being on one of the pavement tables watching the world go by and being acknowledged by some of the locals. When in Arezzo look up the Piazza San Giusto and stay a while. You will get a taste of Tuscan life. PS the cafe piazetta next door is welcoming and sells the most competitive Weiss beer we have enjoyed in the whole of Italy. A great find (just) off the beaten track."
